dean is a waiter at a fancy restaurant. cas is out to dinner with his sister and when dean gets down to fix their wobbly table he jokes with them, “it’s not every dinner that you have a man on his knees for you”

Dean spotted the dark-haired stranger before the door had even shut behind him. He and Jo, had been grabbing wine and glasses for their respective tables, “Dibs,” Dean said, as he watched the stranger talk to the hostess at the podium.

Jo hadn’t been paying attention, she’d always been more concentrated at work than Dean, she wanted to make sure her customers were very well taken care of. She was adjusting the glasses on her tray, when she turned to look at who Dean was talking about. “No way, Winchester, it’s my turn. You can’t just call dibs. That’s money that could be in my pocket.”

Dean’s eyes flicked over to Jo for only a second before settling back on the customer, who was now being seated at a table, with a woman in tow. “Oh, c'mon Jo, you owe me. Remember that shift I covered for you last week? You let me take Mr. Tall, Dark and Handsome over there and we’ll call it even.” He flashed her his most charming smile, knowing she wouldn’t be able to say no.

“Ughhh, fine. You win. We’re even. Go get ‘em, tiger.” She chuckled, and patted Dean on the shoulder before making off with her tray and wine bottle.

Dean stood straight and adjusted his black tie before heading out to the dining room, tray in hand.

————————

Castiel didn’t want to be at this restaurant. It’s was all too fancy for him. He’d much rather be at home, curled up with a warm coffee and a good book, but it was Anna’s birthday and she’d insisted that they come here. Seeing as he’d forgotten Anna’s birthday last year, he didn’t argue. He looked over the menu, none of it looked appetizing. He sighed and put the menu down on the table. He’d just get whatever the special was.

“Cas, something wrong?” Anna had sat down her menu as well and was studying him. Her hands folded over the table, “We could still leave, we don’t have to stay here. I know it’s not really your scene…” she trailed off, fiddling with her fingers.

“No, Anna, it’s your birthday. I want to stay.” He reached over and grabbed her hand, “Really I do.”

The waiter cleared his throat, interrupting their brother/sister moment. “Hello, good evening. My name is Dean and I’ll be your server this evening.”

Cas didn’t hear anything else Dean had said, he was too caught up in the greenest eyes he’d ever seen. He watched the waiters plump, pink lips but didn’t hear a word he said. 'I wonder what it’d be like to kiss those lips.. ’ he thought.

“Uh, Cas? Are you ready? Cas?” Anna’s voice snapped him out of his daydream. Cas felt his face burn with embarrassment, he could have sworn he’d seen the dreamy waiter smirk.

“Uh, yes. Um..I’ll just have whatever the special is…and uh, a glass, no make that a bottle, of Merlot. Please.” Cas did his best not to look into the waiter’s eyes again for fear of getting lost in them once more.

—————————-

Dean took the menus and headed back toward the kitchen chuckling to himself. Cas, he’d heard the woman at the table call him, had been blatantly staring at him. All Dean had to do know, was pull off a smooth move, maybe slip the guy his number and that’d be that.

Jo snuck up behind him and tapped his shoulder, almost giving him a heart attack. “So, how’s it going out there, lover boy?” She asked, her tray tucked under her arm. “Gonna pull the ol’ love 'em then leave 'em routine?”

Dean rolled his eyes, as he punched in their order on the computer. “Jealous?” He quirked an eyebrow.

“Not in the slightest. You’re not as smooth as you think, Winchester.” She nudged by him to grab some food from the window.

Dean’s eyes widened as he mocked an insulted look, “I’m offended, truly.” He pressed enter on the computer and grabbed the receipt as it printed out, “I’ll have you know, I’m the smoothest motherfucker you’ve ever met.”

Jo positioned her tray over her shoulder, “Okay, prove it. Fifty bucks says you can’t get Mr. Angel Eyes out there to give you his number.”

Dean laughed out loud, “Deal.” He held out his hand and Jo took it, shaking on their deal. “Just so you know, I don’t take checks. Cash only.” He winked and brushed past her to grab Cas’ wine and Anna’s water.

——————–

Cas and Anna chatted amongst each other while they waited for their drinks. She filled him in on her new teaching position at the college and he gave her a synopsis of the new novel he was writing. He was having such a good time talking with his sister, he hadn’t noticed Dean until a wine glass was being filled next to him. Cas watched as Dean poured his wine. Dean catching Cas staring at him …. again, winked playfully.

Dean moved around to Anna’s side of the table and sat down her glass of water garnished with a lemon. “Your food should arrive shortly.”

Cas nodded, “Thank you…Dean, was it?”

“That’s right. What brings you two lovebirds out tonight? Anniversary? Engagement?” Dean had assumed they weren’t a couple, by their mannerisms toward each other, he’d guess that they were siblings or friends at best.

“Oh no.” Anna giggled, rosiness rising in her cheeks, “We’re not together… we’re brother and sister.” She batted her lashes at Dean.

Dean smiled back at Anna, a polite, friendly smile but turned his attention back to Cas. “Good to hear…” he said, boring his gaze into Cas’ very, very blue eyes.

Cas almost choked, he reached for a napkin and the table rocked on its legs, almost spilling their drinks. “Oh shit, I -uh.. sorry. I just..” Cas fumbled, finally grabbing the napkin and wiping the red wine from his lips.

Dean caught the table and steadied it. “Oh. Looks like I need to get something to fix this, I’ll be … right back.” He let go of the table and barely grazed Cas’ hand, still on his wine glass.

A shock ran through Cas’ fingers, and he finally let out a breath when Dean left the table. He looked at Anna who was staring at him, wide-eyed, her mouth open. “Cas, I think our waiter was hitting on you.”

“ No.. you…really?” Cas thought maybe he had been, but, no way a guy who looked like Dean would be interested in him. Not a chance.

“Totally, he couldn’t have been more obvious about it if he tried.” Anna sipped her water, “I say go for it.” She shrugged, swallowing her drink.

Dean arrived back quickly with what looked like a few pieces of cardboard. “Let’s get this table back on balance shall we?” Dean got down on his knees and lifted the tablecloth, and folding the fabric up onto the table.

Cas watched Dean, the muscles in his back prevalent under the thin fabric of his crisp white waiters uniform. Cas groaned inwardly, wanting more than anything to reach out and touch him.

Dean looked up at Cas, a sexy half grin on his face. “I bet it’s not every dinner that you have a man on his knees for you..”

Cas choked for the second time that evening, “Uh..Lucky me,” he blurted, no able to control his own mouth.

“No, lucky me.” Dean responded as he slid the last piece of cardboard under the table leg. He stood and looked at Anna and then back to Cas, “All fixed. Listen,” he shifted on his feet, “Not to be too forward, and I know this is totally unprofessional, but, I’d love to get your number. Maybe we could grab a coffee sometime.”

——————————-

Dean came through the doors, a grin on his face that almost touched his ears. He strode up to Jo and held up the piece of paper with Cas’ number on it. “Looks like you owe me fifty big ones, Harvelle.”

Jo scoffed and handed him the money. Dean shook his head, “I’m just messing, this number,” he said as he shoved it in his pocket, “is all the payment I need.” He smirked and walked away. His thoughts running wild about those very, very blue eyes.
